Accidently (or purposely) deleted an item in OneDrive or a OneDrive folder?
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to show you how to recover deleted items from OneDrive. Generally, you will have 30 days to recover a deleted item. Currently, this is achieved from the OneDrive website/portal.
Assumptions and Requirements
- You have access to your OneDrive account
- You have active and stable internet
- You have deleted items you wish to restore
The process
- Log in-to your Microsoft 365 account from https://www.office.com
. - Click
on the upper left menu (App launcher)
, - Locate and click on
“OneDrive”
. - From the left-hand
menu, click on “Recycle bin”
. - You
will be presented with a list of files (if not, skip to the next step).
- You can select the desire files (mouse over and click the circle/check mark)
- Once selected, you will be presented with an
option to “Restore” (c) click this to restore the file. This will place the
file back into its original location

- If you do not see a
list of files, you can check the “secondary deleted items bin” by clicking on “Second-stage
recycle bin”

will be presented with a list of files/items that are available to restore
- You can select the desire files (mouse over and click the circle/check mark)
- Once selected, you will be presented with an
option to “Restore” (c) click this to restore the file. This will place the
file back into its original location

- You can repeat the above steps as needed, though you can recover multiple files at the same time
- If you do not find your desired document, there still might be a chance we can recover using the administrative restore option. If this is the case, you will need to reach out to IT Support to review and complete this process

Office.com as/when you see fit
